Mary Logene Zauft, 84

| March 30, 2011 2:00 AM

Mary Logene Zauft, 84, of Kalispell, died of natural causes on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Heritage Place.

She was born in Minnesota on May 1, 1926, the only child to George A. and Mildred R. Walters. ”Logene” worked at the Sage Building which housed the front line of defense for the U.S. Air Force for many years in Minnesota.

In 1950, she fell in love and married Richard Zauft. In 1959, they bought a house in International Falls, Minn. Together in 1962, they purchased and operated Tang of the North, a fishing resort in Canada for 16 years. During the summer they resided in International Falls.

When they retired, they moved to Montana and continued their dream life. Mom was a wonderful, caring person who made friends easily.

She worked hard all her life, but always had time for family and friends and that made her the happiest.

“She really was an angel in disguise, and now she is a real one looking over all the ones she loved.”

Logene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorne and Jeff Diesen, of Kalispell; son, Gary Zauft and family, of Wisconsin; and many dear friends.

Memorial Mass will be said at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Risen Christ Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Duluth, Minn.
