Clifford Steyee, 68

| March 31, 2011 2:00 AM

Clifford Steyee passed away at his home after a short illness on Monday, March 28, 2011. He was loved and admired by all who knew him, and had a smile that could bring sunshine to any dreary day.

He was born April 12, 1942, in Havre, and moved to Kalispell in 1976 where he lived at the Loutherback Group Home and began working for Flathead Industries. He worked at both the Flathead Industries’ Recycling Center and the Kalispell Thrift Store. Cliff loved working at the Recycling Center where no customer was a stranger, and this is where his hobby of “collecting” aluminum began. He knew exactly how much various recycling businesses paid for aluminum, and he ensured his cans were reimbursed at the highest rate.

Much to his twin brother Clyde’s chagrin, Clifford retired in 2004. However, he never missed a day that he wasn’t out in the community meeting friends for coffee and scouring the streets for loose aluminum cans. Cliff remained a part of Flathead Industries’ family until his death.

Clifford is survived by his sister, Carol Rivers, of San Diego; brother, Jim Steyee, and Tammy, of Mesquite, Nev.; brother, Omar Steyee, and Jolene, of Simms; brother, Clyde Steyee, and Marlene, of Mesquite; and stepfather, Omar Steyee, of Kalispell.

Clifford was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine.

Memorial Services for Cliff will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Flathead Industries.

The family requests memorials be made to Flathead lndustries or Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
