Gladys 'Sis' Irene Kikendall, 80

Gladys “Sis” Irene Kikendall, 80, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

Gladys was born Jan. 7, 1931, in Kalispell to George and Mary Wise. She attended West Side Elementary and Flathead County High School. She worked at the Temple Tea Room.

Gladys married Joseph G. Kikendall in Kalispell on Sept. 26, 1948. After marriage, her career was her family. Joe and Gladys raised four children of their own. The consummate mother, she was a positive influence on many a child's life.

Gladys loved to garden, sew, bowl, play pinochle, quilt, camp, water ski, go huckleberry picking and raise chickens and pigs. She was a member of the Eagles.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, George F. and Mary (Torgerson) Wise; brothers, Doug, Wally and Gene; and sisters, Rachel, Bud, Mae and Mary.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Kikendall Sr.; son, Joe, and Diana Kikendall Jr.; daughters, Rachel Olson, Pam and Wes Holmquist, and Jackie and Mike Sorenson; sister, Lorraine, and Don Schultz; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Gladys will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Christian Center with Pastor Dick Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Children's Ministries at the Christian Center, 255 Summit Ridge Drive, Kalispell, MT 59901; or to the children's charity of your choice.
