John Guralchuk Jr., 82

John Guralchuk Jr., 82, died May 4, 2011, at his home in Lakeside, with his wife Judy at his side, after a courageous fight with lung cancer. John had never smoked and lived an exemplary healthy lifestyle.

He loved the outdoors, the environment, hiking, hunting, his organic garden and adventures. He canoed above the Arctic Circle, in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Queen Charlotte Islands, and several rivers in Montana and Florida.

He worked in Sodus Point, N.Y., as a surveyor and lifeguard. He then moved to Hollywood, Fla., where he was a lifeguard and marine safety officer for 28 years. He retired and moved to Lakeside with his wife Judy in 1990. He worked at West Shore State Park for 10 summers, where everyone had good things to say about him.

A tribute and celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home, 525 South Main Street, Kalispell.
