Wanda Harubin Bears, 93

| May 6, 2011 2:00 AM

Wanda H. Bears, 93, of Kalispell passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at her residence in Kalispell.

She was born Jan. 31, 1918, to Joseph and Katherine (Prusinowski) Harubin in Hamtramek, Mich., where she grew up and attended school.

She went on to serve in the Woman's Army Air Corps for four years, where she met and married her first husband, William Bates Moore; together they started the first helicopter services in Orange County, Calif. They had one son, Michael C. Moore, in 1955 and moved from Alaska to Puerto Rico, until Bill’s death in 1969. After his death, she went back to school and received her bachelor's degree. She held several different jobs, being a legal secretary to a city clerk. She then married her second husband, Allin C. Bears, and together they traveled the world (she was very proud of her Polish heritage) until his death in 1998.

In 2002 she came to Montana with her son and his family, where she resided until his death in 2010.  Wanda then moved to Buffalo Hill Terrace in August of 2010.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Moore of Kalispell; her granddaughters, Rebecca Moore of Kalispell and Jessica Moore of Rhode Island; her granddaughter, Rachel Green; her grandson, Russell Green and his wife, Karlee Green and their daughter, Dallas; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. “Spoczywaj w pokoju.”

A memorial service for Wanda will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell.  Father Roderick Ermatinger will officiate.
