LIBBY - Beautiful day with some fan-friendly softball.

The Libby Loggers played host on Tuesday to Class AA Flathead and Glacier.

The Loggers finished with a split. They defeated Flathead 7-0 in the first game, but fell 7-3 to Glacier in the nightcap.

"This was a good win for us," said Glacier coach Joel Bemis.

The Wolfpack led 1-0 after three innings, then broke the game open with five runs in the fourth.

Libby scored three in the fifth.

Bemis complimented the efforts of both Glacier pitchers - Jessie Compton got the win while Kendra Bouley collected the save.

"We struggled, but we hit the ball when we needed to and that's what mattered. Good team effort. We made about five or six real tight plays," Bemis said.

"(The Loggers) are a very good team. They have a good slapper and some good infielders and they're well-coached," he added.

Libby coach Dean Thompson returned the compliment.

"(The Wolfpack) is a good ballteam, from top to bottom. Defensively, they're tough," he said.

"It was a really good game. Good hitting from both teams. It was a fun game to watch," Thompson said.

"Both of our pitchers pitched real well. If our defense would have helped them out a little bit (against Glacier) the game would have been closer," he said.

Jaime Gilden had a fantastic day at the plate for Libby. She was 3-for-4 in each game.

Alysha Martin was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI against Flathead and 1-for-3 with a double against Glacier. Kim Tangen was 2-for-3 with a double against the Bravettes.

For Glacier, Jena Willis was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Sabrina Kenfield was 2-for-3.

The Bravettes were struck with illness and injury and were without several players, Thompson said.

Libby scored four runs in the third to get things rolling in that game.

Kaylee Henderson was 2-for-3 to lead Flathead.
