Julia Mae 'Judy' Wise, 82
Julia Mae “Judy” Wise, 82, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011, at her residence in Kalispell. She was born May 30, 1928, in Glasgow, to Stanley and Lula (Putnam) Potts.
Due to the building of the Fort Peck Dam, the family moved to Bigfork in the fall of 1936. Judy attended Swan River Grade School and graduated from Bigfork High School in 1946.
She went to work at Sykes’ in 1950, where she met and fell in love with Doug Wise and married him on Dec. 18, 1952. She accepted the Lord into her life at age 35, and had been a member of the Church of the Nazarene ever since.
In 1982, they started an annual free Thanksgiving dinner for all those in need of food or fellowship. Judy received a number of awards over the years for her generosity and compassion to others. She was a member of the Kalispell Soroptimists.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Lula Potts; husband, Doug Wise; three children, Doug Wise Jr., Nola Wise and Terry Wise; and brother, Douglas Potts.
Judy is survived by children, David and Doris Wise of Vaughn, Diana and Walt Stoller of Somers, Cindy and Steve Dodson of Las Vegas, Mary Janice and Mike Inman of Spokane, Tim and Dodie Wise of Kalispell, Randy and Debi Wise of Kalispell, and Hilda Wise of Kalispell; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held for Judy at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at the Church of the Nazarene, Kalispell. Pastor Ed Koteskey will officiate. Private interment will be at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. An open house reception will follow interment at Sykes' Diner, 202 2nd Ave. W., Kalispell, from 3 to 5 p.m.
