| May 25, 2011 2:00 AM

Dorothy A. Klug, 87, a registered nurse and the wife of a minister, who from 1949 to 1955 served a Lutheran church in Kalispell, died May 22, 2011, in Fort Wayne, Ind., where she lived. During the past three decades, she had annually returned to her summer home in Kalispell.

Mrs. Klug was born in Milwaukee, Wis., the eldest of five children of Otto and Anna (Abuya) Bauch. After graduating with a registered nurses degree from Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital, in 1946 she married the Rev. Dr. Eugene F. Klug, a professor of theology who preceded her in death eight years ago.

Their life in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod led them to ministries at the University of Wisconsin, Madison; Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalispell; the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; and Concordia Theological Seminary, initially located in Springfield, Ill., and subsequently Fort Wayne, Ind.

Mrs. Klug worked as a registered nurse for internal medicine practices and the American Red Cross in Illinois and Indiana. She also served in the medical personnel pool in Fort Wayne and Allen Home Health Care, from which she retired in 1992 as assistant director of nursing after 11 years.

Mrs. Klug was a lifelong traveler, often accompanying her husband to theological conferences. In recent decades, they spent their summers in Kalispell and Glacier National Park, the inspiration for family reunions and her legendary huckleberry jam. Demonstrating her zest for special occasions, during the past year she made solo trips to Michigan, Montana and Wyoming.

She is survived by four children, Charlotte Chung of Flora, Ill., Christine Paul of South Hampton, N.H., Paul Klug of Kalispell, Mont, and the Rev. Timothy Klug of Casper, Wy.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, at the chapel located at Lutheran Life Villages, 6701 South Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will beĀ  at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 10700 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee.

Memorials may be sent to Concordia Theological Seminary in care of the Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, which is handling the funeral arrangements.
