C-Falls, Libby, Polson tie for fourth
GREAT FALLS - The theme Saturday for Columbia Falls, Libby and Polson on the final day of the Class A state tennis tournament was - a few points short.
Columbia Falls and Libby tied for fourth place in the boys standings with 14 points each, two points behind third-place Hardin.
Corvallis defended its title with 34-point totals. Hamilton, 19, was second.
Polson's girls tied Dillon for fourth place with 17 points, two points behind third-place Hamilton.
Livingston, with 29 points, edged Glendive for the title by one point.
Polson's girls finished second at state last year while Libby's boys were third.
In action on the courts, Libby's Cree Maloney finished third in singles.
Parker Johnson of Columbia Falls outlasted Alex Cislo of Libby 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in the battle for fifth/sixth place.
Miroslav and Vadim Zvygelskiy of Columbia Falls placed fourth in doubles.
And in girls, Whitney Zimmerman of Polson finished third and teammate Kendyall Rochin was sixth.
