Ancil 'Hank' Conley, 83
Ancil "Hank" Conley, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, in Kalispell.
He was born in Battle Creek, Mich., on Oct. 11, 1928, to Fred W. and Mabel A. (Maxim) Conley.
Too young to go to World War II, Hank started working at a very young age packaging K-rations at the local Kellogg's plant.
During high school he met Mary Jane "Janie" Pickle, the love of his life; they were married shortly after graduation in June of 1947. In 1962, Hank, Janie and their two children moved to San Jose, Calif., where they lived for many years.
While in California, Hank welded the propellant tanks for the Titan IIIc rockets and went on to become a welding engineer, traveling around the country working at various nuclear power plants.
Outside of work Hank and Janie enjoyed camping and square dancing. Hank was also a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite and was proud to be a 32nd degree Mason.
In later years, Hank and Janie continued camping and traveled throughout the United States. They retired in Kalispell, where Janie handcrafted items that Hank would deliver to local nursing homes.
Hank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janie, and all 12 of his siblings.
He is survived by his two children, Sandra and Kenneth Taylor of Newberg, Ore., and Edward and Sharon Conley of Dorrington, Calif.; granddaughters, Christina Conley, Sharlene Conley, Sheena Conley and Shawna Conley; and great-granddaughter, Tamara Perron.
Graveside urn burial for Hank will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Newby officiating.
