Casino robbed over weekend
Detectives with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office are following up on a handful of leads related to the robbery of Magic Diamond Casino on U.S. 2 in Evergreen early Saturday morning.
“Certainly we’ve had an increase in thefts as of late, and although, thankfully, there have not been a lot of actual armed robberies, we put a lot of effort into solving these,” Sheriff Chuck Curry said. “The detective division is working on this and all the other thefts we’ve had recently. We’re doing our best to get the bad guys.”
Curry said it is unknown whether the robbery is connected to the recent string of thefts in the area.
According to the call log from the Kalispell Police Department, an employee of Shamrock Casino first reported that two slim men of average height wearing black masks and carrying what looked like guns approached the door of their business at 2:01 a.m. Saturday. The employee set off the casino’s panic alarm.
Curry said his deputies also responded to the casino, and while they were there, a call came from Magic Diamond Casino reporting a robbery.
The robbers were likely in their early 20s, wearing Carhartt jackets and dark bandannas on their faces. One had a handgun and the other had what looked like an automatic weapon.
Employees at Magic Diamond were unable to identify a vehicle.
