Lecture focuses on dinosaur eggs, research

Paleontologist Frankie Jackson from Montana State University - Bozeman will deliver two free presentations on paleontology and dinosaur egg research in China at Flathead Valley Community College on Nov. 15.

 Open to the public, the events take place at 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in room 150 inside the Ross Hall/Science and Technology Building on the Kalispell campus.

 Jackson will discuss a National Science Foundation grant that provides science students from Montana universities and colleges opportunities to obtain cultural and research experience in China. Applications are now being accepted for the summer 2012 program.

Students who are accepted will work with Jackson and David Varricchio conducting research on dinosaur eggs for five weeks at the Natural History Museum in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. All expenses, including travel, will be paid by the grant.

Students interested in science research, regardless of the discipline, are encouraged to apply for the program. To qualify, students must have minimum grade point averages of 2.5, have demonstrated abilities to follow through on assignments and exhibit personal maturity.

 College students with sophomore or junior class standing are preferred.  The deadline to apply for the program is Dec. 1.
