Doris (Long) Connors, 94
Doris (Long) Connors, 94, died Nov. 12, 2011, in Kalispell, of natural causes.
She was born July 18, 1917, in Keene, N.D., and was raised in North Dakota and Montana. Doris graduated from Williston High School in North Dakota in May 1935.
Before World War II, she worked at the Boeing factory in Seattle as a rivet-bucker. She married Stanley J. Connors in Seattle in 1942 and became a Navy bride. Doris and Stanley were married 69 years.
Doris was a housewife and mother.
She was also a member of the Mothers’ Club of Helena Flats School; a member and officer of the VFW Post 2252 Auxiliary; a member of the Military Order of Cooties Auxiliary, and past state president; charter member and officer of North Valley Auxiliary 4081 F.O.E.
Doris’ hobbies included sewing, alterations, fishing, camping, parades and fundraising to support the military and charities of various organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Florence; brothers, Donald and Alton; daughter, Maryanne Connors; husband, Stanley Connors; and great-grandson, Kalob Connors.
She is survived by her sons, Keith and wife Dorothy Connors of Kalispell, Ken and wife Karen Connors of Jamesburg, N.J., and Don and Becky Connors of Kalispell; daughters, Floris and James Dyke of Great Falls, and Doris Marie Palicz of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans Home Memorial Foundation in Columbia Falls, the Fraternal Order of Eagles F.O.E. 4081 Alzheimer’s Fund, or to your favorite charity.
