Slick roads cause several crashes
Emergency responders were kept busy throughout the day Thursday, responding to 13 motor vehicle accidents between 7:15 and 11:31 a.m., largely due to wet and snowy roads throughout the valley. Fire departments in Somers, Whitefish and Bigfork as well as the Whitefish Police Department, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and the Montana Highway Patrol responded to the calls.
Of the 13 reported accidents, 11 resulted in no injuries, with one causing injury and one unknown injury, according to 911 dispatch center logs.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report that a man wearing an orange mask, orange wig and orange hat purchased fuel at a gas station on Montana 35 in Bigfork and then avoided any physical contact with the employee, keeping his face covered the entire time. The employee’s boyfriend wanted the incident recorded because of recent criminal activities around the area.
It was reported that someone has been urinating and defecating on the floor of a bathroom in a pavilion on Canal Street in Bigfork.
A man reported that someone attempted to take his baggage at the airport and that airport security refused to help him. He was advised to contact the airline with his concerns.
A man reported that someone broke into his vehicle on Phanco Lane in Kalispell and stole a backpack that had a handgun and hunting knives inside it.
A gun and holster were reported stolen from a vehicle on Trumble Creek Road in Columbia Falls.
A person reported finding drugs on South Main Street in Kalispell and requested deputies come and pick them up.
A set of rims and tires were reported stolen on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.
A pair of sunglasses were reported stolen from a vehicle on Orchard Ridge Road in Kalispell.
A wallet was reported stolen at a bar on Montana 35 in Evergreen.
The Kalispell Police Department received a report from a resident of First Street West who said the ceiling started to fall down on him and while cleaning it up he found shotgun pellets. Officers were unable to locate the upstairs resident. The man called back later when someone entered the upstairs apartment, but it was not the resident. When officers investigated the apartment, they confiscated a weapon.
A wallet was reported stolen from a locker at a high school on Fourth Avenue West.
It was reported that someone smashed the window of a vehicle on Fourth Avenue East North and stole $40 that was inside.
A backpack, an iPod and cash were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on West Nicklaus Avenue.
The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a man wearing a hat and gray jacket trying to open the front and back doors of a home on Nucleus Avenue.
A house on First Avenue East was reported paintballed. It was not the first report of the house being shot with paintballs.
The Polson Police Department received a report of a vehicle stolen on 15th Avenue East.
