Parents of students involved in the Sept. 12 Glacier High School football-team incident have been invited to a "restorative meeting" on Sunday.

The invitation from Glacier Principal Callie Langohr calls for a two-hour meeting of parents and Langohr along with facilitators trained in mediation and restorative justice.

Langohr, in her letter to parents, explained that in talking to parents, she had the sense that parents were ready to start some sort of reconciliation process among themselves.

She said she hoped all parents would participate in the meeting so families can be restored back to normalcy as soon as possible.

"This restoration could be a long process and may be different for different families, but that journey needs to start with a first step," Langohr said. "I offer this meeting as a first step."

The meeting, open to parents of both "victims and offenders," according to the letter, will be strictly controlled.

"This means no attorneys, no media, no students or children," the letter said. In addition, participants are not allowed to take notes and there will be no audio or visual recording.

"Parents will be asked to stay for the entire session to ensure that there is proper closure," the letter notes.
