Muddy footprints a clue in break-in

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report that someone broke into a shop on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell and tried to start a fire. The caller said he found muddy footprints at the scene.

It was reported that someone broke into a coffee kiosk on U.S. 2 East and stole a case of Red Bull energy drinks.

A .44-caliber handgun in a black nylon carrying case was reported stolen from a truck inside a garage on Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell.

Several mailboxes were reported vandalized on Foothill Road in Kalispell.

A resident of Tamarack Lane in Columbia Falls reported someone ransacked his vehicle, stealing an old checkbook and a pen.

It was reported the driver of a truck with Washington plates drove off from a gas station on U.S. 93 South in Lakeside without paying for $101 worth of diesel fuel.

A teenager reported that five other teens stole two Playstation 3 video games, several other video games and a rented movie from his home on Riley Lane in Columbia Falls.

The Kalispell Police Department received a report of three people dressed in black looking in the windows of a vehicle next to a bank on South Main Street. The caller said they jumped in the bushes when he drove by.

It was reported that someone vandalized a reader board on Whitefish Stage Road, jumbling the letters to spell an expletive.

A backpack was reported stolen from a vehicle on Harrison Boulevard.

A purse was reported missing from a vehicle on U.S. 2 West. The thief broke a window to get into the vehicle.

The Whitefish Police Department received a report of theft on East Second Street.
