Police investigating death of woman found behind mill

Police are investigating the death of a 47-year-old homeless woman from Kalispell whose body was found near an old lumber mill off Appleway Drive, in an area reportedly frequented by transients.

Initially reported to the Kalispell Police Department on Sunday morning, the case is being handled by the Flathead County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Chuck Curry said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

A caller reported two girls fighting in a parking lot on U.S. 93 shortly after midnight Sunday, one dressed as a beer maid and the other as an angel. The Kalispell Police Department responded and separated them.

After receiving a complaint about what sounded like someone kicking in a door, police found a man on North Meridian Road had kicked in his own door.

Sunday morning, Halloween decorations were reported stolen out of a yard on South Meadows Drive. Two inflatable decorations were missing, one of a cat and the other of a cat with a pumpkin.

A caller reported a vehicle window broken out on Eighth Street East.

Late Saturday night, a caller on Fourth Avenue West North told police that he was beaten up by a group of people he didn't know.

A caller at First Street West and South Main Street complained about three men dressed in black who were talking loudly and standing on the corner making cars honk. Police responded and advised the men to move along.

Earlier Saturday evening, police received word that a group of underage kids in Halloween costumes were drinking alcohol by the skate park.

The Polson Police Department responded to a report of suspicious activity on a walking path at about 10 p.m. Saturday.

A partner family member assault was reported on Fifth Avenue.

Saturday afternoon, police responded to reports of suspicious activity and disorderly conduct on Fourth Avenue West.

Vandalism was reported on Hillcrest Drive.

Police cited someone for obstructing a police officer on the Polson bridge.

Early Saturday morning, the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of assault with a weapon on Pine Haven Lane.

The Ronan Police Department made an arrest for driving under the influence shortly after midnight Saturday at U.S. 93 and Main Street West.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office investigated a hit and run on Mountain Avenue at about 4:21 a.m. Sunday.
