Whitefish plans Back to School Bash
The Smith Soccer Field Complex in Whitefish will come alive Wednesday for the fifth-annual Back to School Bash.
The bash is intended to get people together at the start of the school season to reconnect, catch up from the summer and take care of all their fall errands in one place.
Participants can sign up for PTA; learn about Whitefish recreation opportunities, including alpine and Nordic skiing; get involved in hockey, figure skating, martial arts or dance teams; get information about tutoring services and music lessons; find out about day-care providers; and learn about Scouts and church youth groups.
The event is free but is also a fundraiser for Whitefish CARE, a nonprofit group in Whitefish that works to promote a safe and healthy environment for students and the community.
Participating groups will provide a children’s carnival.
Student groups and clubs from Muldown Elementary, Whitefish Middle School and Whitefish High School, church youth groups and any business or activity in the community that provides activities for kids are invited to participate and provide information about themselves and sign-up opportunities.
There will be a dunk tank available. Whitefish Mountain Resort will have an aerial bungee trainer and will sell season passes.
Northern Lights Laser Tag will once again provide a large laser tag game as well as other entertainment. The big bouncy house also will be available for the younger crowd.
Raffle items and a 50/50 raffle will be available.
Proceeds will benefit CARE, which provides activities including mentoring programs, parenting classes and drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention programs in the Whitefish School District. The organization lost all its federal funding last year, so it is relying on grants and donations.
CARE will provide opportunities for parents to become involved in planning alternative activities for their children’s schools.
