Matt Peters and Josiah Bumgarner accounted for all the offense Glacier needed on Saturday as the Wolfpack blanked Flathead 4-0 in the first crosstown soccer match of the season.

Peters scored twice in the first half, with Bumgarner assisting on the first goal, and Bumgarner scored twice in the final half.

"I thought the team played well," Glacier coach Ryan O'Rourke said.

"We came out a little bit slow, but in the end they picked their game up quite a bit. I was pleased with the results."

Glacier outshot Flathead 14-9 and led in corner kicks 3-1.

Sean Peters had four keeper saves for the Wolfpack (1-0-1) and Christopher Cronk eight for Flathead (0-2).

Cronk was making his second varsity start.

"He did a great job, no complaints about what Chris is doing," Flathead coach Chris Putzler said.

"Improved performance (team wise) from Thursday, definitely.

"The score doesn't quite show how close the game really was," Putzler added.

"The guys worked hard, tried to step things up defensively and work more as a unit."

Putzler said Andrew Wilson had a good outing.

"He's the core of our backline. He runs the show back there. He did a lot to save more goals."

Glacier scored just before the half ended on a goal by Nicole Heavirland. Chantal Gustine had the assist.

"I thought for the most part we played well," Flathead coach Scott Warnell said.

Holmgren said Heavirland had "a great game on top.

"Tess Brenneman had a great game for them. Jaclyn Rauthe and Brittany Earnest gave us a lot of trouble.

"It was a well-played game for crosstown. It was exciting for people to watch - back and forth.

"We still need to work on scoring, but we're getting some good looks. We're starting to get some shots."
