Car abandoned after high-speed chase

A woman in Columbia Falls told the Flathead County Sheriff's Office early Sunday morning that another woman who was over drinking the night before may have stolen her black Dodge Neon, which had a key broken off in the ignition.

Columbia Falls Police told the Sheriff's Office that it had located the suspect on U.S. 2 the previous night, but gave up the chase because she was driving in triple digits. The abandoned vehicle later was found and recovered.

Later Sunday morning, a caller on U.S. 93 in Whitefish reported a black bear treed in the front yard. The bear came down on its own.

A Bigfork man said when he gave his credit card to a waitress to pay the bill last night, she came back and said she lost his card.

A man asked to speak to a deputy about his 14-year-old daughter sending naked pictures on her cell phone. An officer spoke to the girl with her mother and father and was told it wouldn't happen again.

Someone on Oakmont Lane in Columbia Falls reported a missing 1998 Honda. The keys were in the vehicle.

An officer secured an open door to the gym at Evergreen Junior High.

Sunday afternoon, a caller reported a man panhandling along U.S. 2. The man was holding a sign that said "Honest Ugly Prostitute."

Police responded to a report of a hit and run and possibly a burglary on Moraine Drive in Whitefish.

A caller on U.S. 2 in Hungry Horse reported a man in a parking lot playing loud music and selling drugs from his car.

Sunday night, a woman in Olney reported her purse stolen. She said it had a phone and two passports in it.

Police responded to a report of a burglary on Anderson Lane.

An employee at a casino said a woman left to find the passenger window of her car smashed in early Monday morning.

A caller on Second Street West reported suspicious activity to the Polson Police Department at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday. Police responded and someone was cited for criminal trespass to property.

At about 2:46 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on 13th Avenue. Someone was cited for disorderly conduct.

Later Sunday evening, a caller reported harassment at Riverside Park. Police responded and arrested someone for possession of dangerous drugs.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to a theft reported at a business on East Lakeshore Road at about 12:20 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity on Eli Gap Road at about 5:41 p.m.

At about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, someone reported a theft on Mission Creek Road.

The Whitefish Police Department made an arrest Monday after responding at about noon to a report of a physical disturbance on West Fourth Street.

Police responded to a report of a fight on Central Avenue later in the afternoon.

Sunday evening, a caller reported someone with an open container on West 13th Street.

Earlier in the day Sunday, police assisted in response to a report of reckless driving on U.S. 93 North.

Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident hit and run on JP Road at about 4:07 a.m.

Someone reported seeing suspicious activity on Wisconsin Avenue.

Police responded after someone on Iowa Avenue reported a verbal disturbance.
