Lake County officials say a Steven R. Eisenbarth, 57, of Kalispell died of what appeared to be an accidental drowning in Flathead Lake over the weekend.

Emergency crews responded to Polson Bay shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Sheriff Jay Doyle said Steven R. Eisenbarth jumped off his sailboat to go swimming while the boat was still at sail. The other occupants of the boat turned back around to pick him up because he was struggling in the water.

Rescuers were able to pull him onto his boat, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Eisenbarth was pronounced dead at the hospital in Polson.

Eisenbarth is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, Cory Eisenbarth; and his daughters, Amy Hubbard, Karessa Atkins and Tonia Westendorf.
