Utility-box destruction investigated

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a young man walking east on Wolfpack Way who was destroying a utility box on the side of the road.

Officers apprehended the man elsewhere and took him back to the utility box, which belonged to the phone company, to check the damage. The phone company chose not to press charges and the man was released.

A woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a caller saw her crossing the center line on Twin Bridges Road before hitting one car and rear-ending another at 1:22 p.m. Thursday. The caller blocked the woman in with their own vehicle until officers could arrive. She was arrested and transported to the county jail.

A Kalispell resident of Lazy Swan Lane reported vehicles have been casing the area for homes with “for sale” signs up and that thefts have been occurring in a nearby home.

Windows were reported smashed out of a vehicle parked at a business on U.S. 93 West in Kalispell sometime Thursday night. 

A lighted reader board was reported stolen from a business on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell at 8:46 a.m. Thursday.

The Montana Department of Transportation reported a truckload of asphalt was accidentally dumped on Montana 83 at milepost 89.3 about two miles east of Montana 35 at 7:35 a.m. Friday. A work zone was set up for cleanup of the material. The cleanup was completed by 2:30 Friday afternoon.

The Kalispell Police Department responded to a collision between a Hyundai Accent and a bicyclist on U.S. 2 West at 3:23 p.m. Thursday. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital for treatment after complaining of left knee and right leg pain.

A teenage girl was reported to have shoplifted from a business on U.S. 93 South at 4:48 p.m. Thursday. Officers were unable to locate her.

A woman reported at 11:36 a.m. Friday that someone stole her prescriptions from a drug store on West Idaho Street while she has been in North Dakota.

A resident of Empire Loop reported his ex-girlfriend was refusing to return his property including his vehicle at 12:32 p.m. Friday.

A Liberty Street resident reported someone entered her apartment through a window and stole several items while she was out shopping at 9:29 p.m. Thursday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Buffalo Bridge at 6:42 p.m. Thursday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
