Donald Edward 'Don' Wagner, 78

Donald Edward “Don” Wagner, passed away at the Brendan House in Kalispell on Sept. 1, 2011. 

He was born in Kalispell on Dec. 6, 1932, the son of Charles and Velma (Parker) Wagner.

Don grew up in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School in 1951. Following high school he enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for 4 1/2 years. While stationed at Sewart Air Force Base in Tennessee he met Stella Mae White of Nashville, Tenn., and they married on Oct. 8, 1955.

From 1957 to 1980 Don had various jobs with Shell Oil, IBM, Vanderbilt, KGEZ Radio station in Kalispell and WSIA TV station in Nashville. He was a very good business man and owned three women's clothing stores in Nashville, TN., the Middle Tree Apartments in Kalispell, and also three women's clothing stores in Kalispell, The Closet, Touch of Class, and Fashion Lady.  He also had stores in Butte and Great Falls. 

Dogs were of special interest to Don. He owned Collie and Malamute show dogs while living in Nashville and won numerous ribbons and awards. He also loved to fish and would never turn down a chance to go fishing with friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Velma Wagner; and a brother, Jim Wagner.

He is survived by his wife, Stella of Kalispell; sister-in-law, Pat Wagner of Kalispell; nephew, Ken Wagner of Homer, Alaska; niece, Darlene Fowler of Fort Wayne, Ind.; double cousin Gary Wagener and his wife, Linda, of Kalispell; and many good friends. 

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
