Vance leads Stevensville by Columbia Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS - Caleb Vance threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns and was four of five on PAT kicks to lead Stevensville to a 34-14 nonconference Class A football victory Friday night over Columbia Falls.

Vance was 16 of 36 passing and threw one interception.

"We had some difficulty defending the pass," Columbia Falls coach Bill Coleman said.

"Our young kids showed their age tonight. We have to get better."

Columbia Falls (1-1) jumped out a quick 14-0 first-quarter lead on a 41-yard TD strike from quarterback Austin Barth to Alex Presnell.

Dan Jones scored the second Wildcat touchdown on a 13-yard run.

Barth finished 6 of 18 passing for 189 yards. He was intercepted twice.

Jones led the Columbia Falls ground game with 73 yards on 26 carries.

Polson 41, Hamilton 0

POLSON - Quarterback Vince DiGiallonardo ran for three touchdowns and passed for another as Polson whipped Hamilton in nonconference play.

DiGiallonardo had TD runs of 10, 6 and 33 yards.

His touchdown pass went to Will Davey for 41 yards.

Polson (2-0) totaled 327 yards rushing and 109 passing. DiGiallonardo had 14 carries for 127 yards. Chris Cote, who had touchdown runs of 39 and 6 yards, had 116 yards on 16 carries.

Polson held Hamilton to 63 rushing yards and 84 passing.

DiGiallonardo, Paul McClurg and Ian Laimbeer had interceptions for Polson.

"We played a pretty good game, again," Polson coach Scott Wilson said.

"We forced a few turnovers. Our offense had some big plays and nice drives ... it was a good combination."

Loyola 21, Eureka 13

MISSOULA - In a battle of Class B ranked teams, No. 10 Loyola jumped on top 21-0 before No. 7 Eureka roared back with two late scores.

Chris Ibach returned a fumble 65 yards to put the Lions on the board with 10:43 to play.

Tanner Blankers hauled in a 28-yard pass from Ryan Holder with 2:21 remaining to get Eureka within eight.

Loyola (2-0) outgained Eureka (1-1) 155-70 on the ground and 178-114 through the air.

Blankers finished with five receptions for 54 yards. Ibach had 58 yards rushing on 19 carries and caught two passes for 28 yards.

BIGFORK - Cody Dopps ran for two touchdowns and Ian Lorang returned a punt for one and ran 24 yards for another as Bigfork bounced back with a decisive nonconference Class B win over Deer Lodge.

Bigfork (1-1) jumped out to a 27-7 halftime lead and never looked back.

Dopps' scoring runs covered 1 and 2 yards.

Connor Coleman returned a fumble 15 yards for another Bigfork TD.

Dopps ran for 82 yards on 17 carries. Quarterback Colter Mahlum was 9 of 19 passing for 143 yards and one TD.

Bigfork had 380 yards total offense to Deer Lodge's 186.

"It was a great all-around game for our boys," Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said. "Offense, defense, special teams ... we played a solid game. It was a good bounce-back victory.
