Whitefish boys top Libby soccer 4-0
LIBBY - Casey Beiser scored two early goals and Mark Stormes and Sam Donaldson both scored once in the final half as Whitefish blanked defending state champ Libby 4-0 in Northern A soccer action on Friday.
Beiser scored at 5 and 20 minutes.
"That always helps," Whitefish coach O'Brien Byrd said of getting on the board first.
"Libby came at us like they always do with everything ... a ton of intensity and tenacity. We need more opponents that can test us like that."
Bryd said Stormes "came off the bench halfway through the first half and just provided the spark we needed on offense."
Whitefish (4-2 and 2-0) plays at Polson on Tuesday.

KALISPELL - Eight Stillwater Christian players scored as the team downed Foothills Community Christian School 10-1 to kick off the Cougar Classic.
Daniel King and Josh Bray led the way with two goals each. Bray added two assists. Also scoring were Ryan Koch, Zach Falk, Derek Vander Ark, Cody Harmon, Zane Kloeckl and Zach Waldher.
Kloeckl led the Cougars (4-2) in assists with three.
"Great finishing tonight," coach Tim Anderson said. "The team passed well and finished with composure. Fair play among both teams. Foothills played with a lot of heart."

HELENA - Flathead kept pace with Helena early but couldn't match the Bengals' second half production and fell 5-1.
The lone goal for the Braves came in the 34th minute off the foot of Caleb Buxton.
The score was 2-1 at halftime but Helena scored three more times in the second half to solidify the win.
"I'm relatively happy with the performance," Flathead coach Chris Putzler said. "The guys worked hard. Some of the things we worked on over the week started to manifest themselves.
"We had a good first half and a good first half of the second half. Helena is a quality team."
The Braves play Helena Capital today at 11:30 a.m.

Glacier's Jake Lockwood netted the first score of the game in the 21st minute and was followed by Capital's Logan Colegrove seven minutes later.
Glacier had 10 shots on goal compared to Capital's 11.

LIBBY - Natalie Gayner led Whitefish's scoring parade with four goals and two assists as the Bulldogs (2-2 and 2-0) whipped Libby in Northern A play.
Megan Danczyk and Caroline Carbo scored two goals each.
All total, six different Bulldog players scored goals and seven players had assists.
Danczyk and Samantha Dittman had two assists each.
"It was great to see us play two great back-to-back games," Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens said.
"Goals and assists were coming from all over the field."
