Columbia Falls also hopes to move forward with remodeling the jail portion of the city’s police department.

With an estimated cost of about $250,000, the project is expected to be put out for bid at the Sept. 19 City Council meeting.

The plan is for work to be done in January, which is generally the quietest time of year for the police department.

According to Nicosia, the remodeling has been on the city’s capital projects plan since 1995.

“It’s been planned for a long time. It’s just one of those things where we’ve set aside and accumulated the money to complete the project,” she said.
