Whitefish boys, girls top Polson
POLSON - Whitefish scored five goals in the first half and upended Polson 6-0 Tuesday in Northern Class A play.
Senior Natalie Gayner scored three of those goals, all following corner kicks booted by sophomore Kayla Simmes.
Sophomore Caroline Carbo added two goals and an assist. Junior Megan Danzcyk had a goal and an assist.
"We possessed the ball well and were able to put some quick goals up early," said coach Wendy Farrens.
Whitefish out-shot Polson 24-5 during the game.
The Bulldogs (4-2, 3-0) play the Wildkats of Columbia Falls Thursday in Whitefish.

POLSON - The Bulldogs topped the Pirates 2-1 after Whitefish junior Sam Donaldson kicked in the go-ahead goal late in the first half.
Donaldson's score on a penalty kick followed a goal by Curran Edland two minutes earlier in the 38th minute. Casey Beiser provided the assist.
Polson's lone goal came in the 24th minute from James Larson with an assist by Riley Lemm.
Goalkeepers Thomas Clark of Whitefish and Peregrine Frissell of Polson each had four saves.
Polson amassed 16 fouls during the game compared to four for Whitefish. The Bulldogs out-shot the Pirates 6-5.
Whitefish (4-2,2-0) will host Columbia Falls Thursday.

KALISPELL - Stillwater Christian made quick work of Stevensville Tuesday with an 8-0 win at home.
The Cougars bombarded the Yellow Jackets with 12 shots as Stillwater goalkeeper Trevor Holladay held Stevensville scoreless and racked up six saves.
Josh Bray and Zane Kloeckl each had three goals for Stillwater. Bray also had two assists.
Zach Waldher added a goal and three assists.
"Fantastic game tonight," Stillwater coach Tim Anderson said. "The guys played unselfishly and really worked as a team. This is a special group of young men that are willing to work together and work as a team. Their teamwork really showed tonight."
Stillwater (6-2, 0-1) hosts Columbia Falls Sept. 20 at 4 p.m.
