Odean May Grilley Brown, 84

Odean May Grilley Brown, 84, of Burley, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Parke View Care & Rehab in Burley, of natural causes.   

Odean was born April 4, 1927, in Northome, Minn., to Ben I. and Clara Norsby Grilley. She attended schools in North Dakota and Montana.

She married Ransom H. Brown June 4, 1949, and later divorced in 1976.  She resided in Minnesota, North Dakota and western Montana, including Kalispell and the Flathead Lake area. She moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1958, and later resided in Hazelton, Idaho, and then finally settled in Burley in 1962.

She was employed at the Credit Bureau of Burley from 1962 to1976.  She worked as a waitress and cook for over 20 years in local restaurants that included the Burley Elks lunch room, Prices Cafe, Cassia Memorial Hospital and Cassia County Schools.

Odean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of Xi Omega Chapter Beta Sigma Phi, serving as president and valentine queen. She was also a member of Credit Women International and Eastern Star, and served in the Pink Ladies Organization.    

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, the outdoors, embroidering, dancing and visiting family and friends. She loved to travel and spend time with family in Montana and Arizona.

Odean is survived by her children, Pamela and Larry Jensen of Lehi, Utah, and Patty and Dee Hodge of Rupert, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Jeff and Nicole Jensen of Burley, Greg and Heather Jensen of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Kim and Cody Heward of Provo, Utah, Amy and Martin Burgess of Lehi, Shannon and Clay Stephens of Burley, Joe and Talina Jensen of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Nathan Hodge of Rupert, Casey and Tonya Jensen of Lehi, and Chelsea and Darric Grant of Heyburn, Idaho; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wesley and Doreen Grilley of Kalispell, Ward and Alice Grilley of Polson, and Roger and Linda Grilley of Kalispell; and sister, Virginia, and Eldon Loveless, of Burley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben I. and Clara Norsby Grilley; children, William Henry Brown and Kenneth Wayne Brown; great-grandchild, Jaden Jensen; sister, Jeanette M. Grilley Northey; and brother, Alvin M. Grilley.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Hansen Mortuary, 710 6th St., in Rupert, with Bishop David Hansen officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the mortuary.
