Roger Baker, 31

| September 17, 2011 6:45 PM

Roger was taken on a glorious Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011; “faith, hope, gifts of the Holy Spirit, to Jesus through Mary, and grace of final perseverance” by saving two other lives and giving his own in a car accident.

Roger was born on Nov. 24, 1979, in Great Falls and came to this world with the most stunning green eyes, dimples and bright smile.

Roger was preceded in death by his aunts, Georgia Marie Baker Johnston and Lee Ann Baker; and grandpa, William George Houle.

Roger was a person who left an impression in your heart when you met him. He was remarkable because he was beautiful inside and out. His sparkling green eyes, warm kisses and tight hugs that took your breath away will never be forgotten. We will always remember Roger with thoughts and memories of baptism, an altar boy at St. Anne's Church in Great Falls, a smile as big as his heart and proud of his Native American Chippewa Cree heritage. Roger was a listener, kind, selflessness, giving and easygoing. You could tell Roger anything and he would never judge. He embraced all people from all walks of life. He would carry many crosses for others or himself with strength and pride. Roger had an open and generous heart. He accepted everybody and he laughed with everybody. Roger was a good man who lived fully and honestly. We will miss visiting Roger, listening to Roger, listening to his stories, fishing with him, but most of all laughing with him. “Roger is now in heaven fishing with grandpa; save some big fish for us.”

Roger is survived by his grandmother, Marie Boushie Mount; his mother, Rhonda Baker Phipps of Kalispell; two aunts, Helen Baker Brickman of Great Falls and Genevieve Baker of Billings; one uncle, Andy Huff of Helena; and Roger’s babies, one daughter, Tamara Baker, three sons, Jacob Anthony Baker, Andrew Tate Baker, and one to arrive in January  2012; his sisters and brother, Melinda Marie Goings, Michelle Lynn Baker Herman, Lee Ann Daniels, Micheala Marie Goings, Jordan Rae Goings and Ken Daniels; nephews, Alexander William Boushie Huff, C.J. Little Youngman, and Isaac Lee Little Youngman; nieces; and many cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial for Roger will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Columbia Falls, with Father John Miller as celebrant. Burial will be afterwards at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, with reception to follow at St. Richard’s Catholic Church. A rosary will be said for Roger at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, in the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
