William 'Bill Eric Wimmer, 59
William “Bill” Eric Wimmer, 59, passed away peacefully in his home in Whitefish on Sept. 18, 2011.
Bill was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Easton, Pa., to Paul and Ruth Wimmer.
Bill's name is a legacy. He was named for his uncle Bill whom he never met. Uncle Bill was the younger brother of his father, Paul. His uncle Bill served in World War II and died as a result of a plane crash on Ascension Island, in May of 1945.
Bill was raised in Belfast, Pa. He attended Grace Lutheran Church, and graduated from Pen Argyl High School in 1969. From there he went on to attend Northampton County Community College where he received an associate degree in electrical electronics.
After leaving Pennsylvania Bill lived in many places — Coon Rapids, Minn., where he was employed at the American Monarch Corp.; Houston, where he was employed at Home Depot; and Kalispell, where he was self-employed as a real-estate inspector.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed nature, camping, hiking, visiting state parks and drawing. He had studied about the U.S. Civil War, paying close attention to the exact dates, battles, generals, victories and defeats. He also enjoyed studying about the Moravians of Bethlehem and Native American culture.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul W. and Ruth B. Wimmer; and his first wife, Terry Armondo.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Ann Rambo Wimmer, of Whitefish; his sister, Loreen Sherman, of Schnecksville, Pa.; a brother, Mark Wimmer, of Quakertown, Pa.; one niece, Erin Fadako, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and nephews, Brett Wimmer of Quakertown, and the Rev. Ryan Stout of New York Mills, Minn.
A memorial service is planned for 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Shining Mountains Spiritual Center, 478 Eighth Ave. EN, Kalispell.
