Logger, bicyclist tangle near town

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a logging truck driver, described as a “big guy in his mid-40s,” slamming on the brakes, climbing out of his truck and yelling at a bicyclist before punching him in the face and knocking him off the bicycle on Farm to Market Road near Kalispell. The driver reportedly then got back in his truck and drove off.

A drunken man was reported walking toward the front of a hotel on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell yelling and saying he was the “creator.” He tried to get into one of the rooms, but failed. He was later picked up by police and admitted to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center on a mental health hold.

The office received a report of automatic gunfire.

An office on Montana 35 in Evergreen was reportedly burglarized and an ATV, as well as other equipment, was stolen.

A .22-caliber Ruger rifle and a .338-caliber Winchester rifle were reported stolen from a truck on Foothill Road in Kalispell.

Gravel was reported stolen from a newly made road in Kalispell.

A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle on Grandview Terrace in Lakeside.

A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Sleepy Hollow Road in Kalispell.

The Kalispell Police Department received several reports of a drunken man in the street at the intersection of 13th Street East and Eighth Avenue East screaming, screeching like a hawk and making other strange noises. During an initial check, officers stated the man was a little intoxicated but was walking home. A second stop resulted in the man being given a ride home.

A woman reported she was told by a crossing guard that there has been a “creepy guy” with long, stringy hair sitting in a car with a dog near the school for the last couple days. He reportedly had talked to her children. An extra patrol was requested in the area.

A man reported a group of people in a car tried to sell him cocaine on U.S. 2 West. He refused, but he let them use his cellphone, and they drove off with it.

A man was arrested on a warrant on First Avenue East, at the same address that a woman was arrested on a warrant later in the day.

Several vehicles were ransacked on Fifth Avenue East, and an iPod touch, a cellphone case and a vehicle manual were stolen.

A phone was reported stolen from a vehicle with an unlocked hatchback on Windward Way.

A vehicle was ransacked on East Washington Street, but nothing was stolen.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report that a woman’s purse was stolen out of her vehicle while she was inside a building on Ninth Street West for about half an hour. The thief broke a window in her vehicle to get inside.

The Whitefish Police Department responded to a fight on East First Street.

An assault was reported on U.S. 93 South.

Deputies with Lake County Sheriff’s Office cited a person for disorderly conduct after responding to a report of suspicious activity at Lakeview Village Apartments.

A person was arrested on charges of theft and shoplifting on U.S. 93. Another was arrested on the same charges on Fourth Avenue East.
