Margaret Jane 'Peggy' Gilbertson Burgess, 72

Peggy Burgess passed away Sept. 10, 2011, after an extended illness, in Tacoma, Wash.

Peggy was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Kalispell, to Clarence and Mary Gilbertson, the sixth of nine children. She grew up with her family in Kalispell and attended grade school and Flathead County High School. 

In 1970 Peggy married Jess Burgess. They had a daughter in 1976 whom they named after each of their mothers, Mary Alice Burgess.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jess Burgess.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Mary Alice and Chris Richards, of Tacoma; and her granddaughter Lindsey Burgess, and grandson Anthony Richards. They were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Mae Tilton of Helena, Mary Lou and Jack Basham of Thompson Falls, Harold and Virginia Gilbertson of Pine, Ariz., Jim and LoAnna Gilbertson of Des Moines, Wash., LeRoy and Regina Gilbertson of Alexandria, Va., Ted and Donna Gilbertson of Kalispell, Larry and Marie Gilbertson of Chapin, S.C., and Janice and Larry McMillan of Chandler, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Kalispell Central Christian Church, 248 Second Ave. E., Kalispell.

Peggy’s wishes were to be cremated with her ashes scattered on her brother Ted's property in Kalispell.
