Glacier girls 1st in golf tourney
EUREKA - Glacier had five girls shoot under 96 and place in the top 10 on the first day of the Glacier/Whitefish/Flathead Invitational golf tournament at Indian Springs Ranch Golf Course on Friday.
That solid performance gave the Wolfpack a comfortable lead heading into today's final round at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.
Glacier, led by Shelby Ballard's 88, posted a 364 total. Great Falls High, 395, was a distant second and Missoula Sentinel, 397, third.
Flathead, 408, had a very good outing, holding down the fourth position.
Ballard shares second place with C.M. Russell's Rachel Solomon.
Missoula Sentinel's Mari Wolverton had the best round for the girls with a 79.
Glacier's Shea Stevens, 91, Hannah Davis, 92, and Kaydee Aurich, 93, are in fifth, sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Glacier's Mallory Skinn, 96, is tied for ninth.
Whitefish's Erin Tabish carded a 90, which has her sitting fourth.
Jourdan MacFarland, 97, had the top round for Flathead. She was also the lone Bravette to shoot under 100.
In boys play, Reed Platke of Whitefish shot a 68 for a two-shot edge on teammate and Northwestern A divisional champ Arthur Doorn.
Teammate Camp Kenyon, 77, is fifth.
Whitefish, 301, leads the standings with Glacier, 321, second and Missoula Big Sky, 332, third.
Flathead, 357, is seventh.
Cody Sherrill, playing with the Glacier JV, shot 73 for the third best score and JV teammate Kevin Talcott, 78, was tied for sixth.
The Wolfpack varsity was led by Logan Iverson, 76, in fourth place; and Dillon Eaves, 79, tied for eighth with Flathead's Michal Lavin.
