Glacier’s boys and girls tuned-up for this week’s

state AA tournament by capturing the team titles at the

Glacier/Whitefish/Flathead Invitational on Saturday at Buffalo Hill

Golf Club.

The boys pulled out a tight 2-stroke victory over

Whitefish, while the girls had a much easier time of it, finishing

53 shots ahead of Great Falls High.

On the individual front, Reed Platke of Whitefish

wrapped up his senior regular season with a dominating performance.

Platke shot 68 on Friday at Indian Springs Ranch and followed with

a 1-under 71 at Buffalo Hill for a 139 two-day total.

It was a refreshing victory after finishing second in

the divisional tournament earlier in the week.

“I kept the ball in the fairway and made a few

putts,” he said of his round, which had three birdies and two

bogeys.

“That’s what you gotta do.”

He said there was no extra pressure on him to win

this event with state play right around the corner.

“Just go out and play golf,” he said.

“I didn’t have any expectations. Every tournament is

a new tournament.”

Platke won state as a sophomore and was the runner-up

as a freshman and last year, both times one shot off the pace.

Logan Iverson of Glacier settled for second place

behind Platke, 76-69—145, and Arthur Doorn of Whitefish was third,

70-82—152.

Glacier’s Dillon Eaves found a spot in the top 10,

shooting 79-80—159. That was good for ninth place.

The Glacier JV had two individual post impressive

back-to-back rounds to finish with the leaders. Cody Sherill,

73-82—155, tied for fourth and Kevin Scott, 78-82—160, tied for

10th.

Flathead’s Michael Lavin, with a pair of steady 79s

for a 158 total, finished  eighth.

Mari Wolverton of Missoula Sentinel added another

medalist title to her fall resume, shooting 79-77—156 for a

nine-shot advantage on Rachel Solomon of C.M. Russell,

88-77—165.

Erin Tabish of Whitefish was third, 90-82—173.

Shelby Ballard led Glacier, 88-85—173, placed

fourth.

Glacier’s Hannah Davis, 92-87—179, and Kaydee Aurich,

93-86—179, tied for fifth and teammate Mallory Skinn, 96-94—190,

was ninth.

Flathead’s Jourdan McFarland, 97-94—191, celebrated a

solid outing by finishing 10th.

The Bravettes had two more girls break 100 on the

final day — Michaela Murer with a 92 and Morgan Knutson with a 95.

That was the team’s best one-day tournament showing of the

season.

The AA state tournament is Thursday and Friday at the

Butte Country Club. Class A state is Friday and Saturday in

Hamilton Golf Course.
