Jack Logan Hensley, 86

Jack Logan Hensley, 86, husband, honored father, grandfather and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2011, at the family summer home in Lakeside, a place he dearly loved.

Jack was born to Logan H. and Hazel E. Brown Hensley on Aug. 3, 1925, in Glasgow. He resided in Glasgow for 10 years before moving to western Montana with his parents and brother. He graduated from Plains High School.

On Dec. 27, 1958, he married Connie McCown at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Jack and Connie had five children, Mark, Dan, Jane, Jean and Joan.

Jack served in the Navy for three years during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and participated in the Philippine Campaign. After discharge from the Navy, in 1950, he graduated from the University of Montana from the School of Business Administration.

In 1951, he went to work for the Conrad National Bank and later for the Montana Bank in Great Falls for a short period of time. In 1960, he was employed by the State Bank of Somers and purchased an interest in the bank.

The bank was moved to Kalispell in 1964 and was renamed The Valley Bank of Kalispell. Jack served as president and chairman of the board while at The Valley Bank.

He was actively involved in his community, serving on several boards. He served on the State Banking Board and was director of the Montana Bankers Association, member of the Kalispell City Council, trustee of the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery Association, member of Trinity Lodge No. 152, Bagdad Shrine, Elks Lodge and Rotary, member of Sisters of Mercy Hospital, member of Buffalo Hill Golf Club, longtime supporter and friend of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, and member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Logan H. and Hazel E. Brown Hensley; and his mother- and father-in-law,  Acil “Ace” and Buenetta (Siblerud) McCown.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Connie McCown Hensley; and five children, sons Mark and wife Michelle and grandsons Logan, Ryan and Jackson, and Dan and wife Sonya and grandchildren Chloe and Christian, all of Kalispell; triplet daughters, Jane Hensley of Missoula, Joan and husband Joe Brennan and granddaughter Kathleen, of Kirkland, Wash., and Jean and husband Brent Estep and granddaughters Katherine and twins Christine and Caroline of Ketchum, Idaho; and brother Robert Hensley of Auburn, Wash.    

The immediate family will honor his life at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. A ceremony will follow at a later date.
