Runaway camel? Yep, that's news
The Flathead County Sheriff's Office got a report Sunday regarding a camel - that's right, a camel - being loose near Hodgson Road and Whitefish Stage Road, where there is a nearby ranch that is home to exotic animals. The camel was eventually captured and taken home.
A person calling from Nicholson Drive reported that a man was passed out in a vehicle with the door open. While the man was initially unresponsive to attempts to wake him, he eventually walked away from the vehicle, presumably towards home.
There was a report from Ridgewood Drive involving two people in a verbal dispute, with one of them being intoxicated and allegedly hitting the other over the head with a rolled up newspaper but there was no evidence of a physical altercation.
A gas tank, marine batteries and a stereo were reportedly stolen from a boat on Poplar Drive in the Kalispell area sometime Saturday night.
There was a report of a man bashing in the window of a vehicle while parked near an eatery on U.S. 2 in Evergreen. The man left a pipe and sunglasses behind before running away into a nearby field. He could not be located.
There was a report of two people breaking into a vehicle near a trailer park off Whitefish Stage Road and then driving away in another vehicle.
There was a report of a window being broken out of a vehicle and a purse being stolen in the Bigfork area.
Someone reported that ammunition and fishing tackle had been stolen from a shed on Kelley Road in the Columbia Falls area.
There was a report of a disturbance off Montana 35 late Sunday in Evergreen involving a man attempting to throw a woman out of a trailer home. The parties were separated for the night.
Kalispell Police got a report Sunday night from Glenwood Drive near Liberty Street regarding a vehicle that had struck something and was dragging it under a vehicle. The vehicle ended up high-centered and abandoned, and the reporting party said a street light in the area had been knocked over. A business owner later reported damage in front of her store in the same area.

Early Monday, at around 2:40 a.m., there was a report of a theft from a store on First Avenue East North. A suspect was eventually caught nearby and taken back to the store for questioning.
There was a report of an abandoned vehicle with a back window broken out in the Woodland Park area.
There was a report of tools being stolen from a vehicle on Ninth Avenue West.
