Big Sky edges Glacier's boys, girls in soccer

Missoula Big Sky's Nic Frontespezi scored in the 76th minute to give the Eagles a 2-1 Western AA boys soccer victory over Glacier on Thursday at Glacier.

Frontespezi also scored Big Sky's first goal at 57 minutes.

Glacier held a big edge in shots on goal, 15-6, and led in corner kicks, 5-4.

Sean Peters had six keeper saves for Glacier.

Glacier's Josiah Bumgarner tied the match with his goal in the 66th minute.

"Just couldn't find the back of the net very well today," Glacier coach Ryan O'Rourke said. "The guys worked hard the first half, second half. It was played well overall. I think we still can play better."

Glacier (2-3-3 overall and league) entertains Flathead on Saturday at noon in the second crosstown match of the season.

POLSON - Riley Lemm scored twice and four other players scored goals as Polson posted an easy Northern A victory.

Polson (5-2-2 and 4-2) held a commanding 4-1 lead at the half.

James Larson, Alex Helgson, Caden vonWildenradt and Riley Lemm accounted for the other goals.

Casey Burghduff and Dylan Corbett scored for Columbia Falls (1-8-1 and 1-4-1).

More shots on goal and corner kicks did not produce a victory for Glacier.

Tifani Zanto scored in both halves and Katie McKay had a first-half goal as visiting Big Sky notched a Western AA victory.

Anna Deleray scored for Glacier in the 61st minute. The Wolfpack had 17 shots on goal to Big Sky's 14 and led in corner kicks 6-4.

"We battled hard all the way through," Glacier coach Paul Holmgren said. "The midfield had an outstanding game for us today. Anna Deleray played great on top."

Glacier (0-7-1) hosts Flathead on Saturday, 10 a.m.

POLSON - McKenzie Kiser opened and closed the scoring for Columbia Falls and added an assist along the way as the Wildkats coasted to an easy Northern A victory over Polson.

Danielle Delventhal also scored two goals and assisted on one.

Cedar Jordt, Gabby Keller and Julia Burgi each scored once.

Columbia Falls (9-1 and 6-0) outshot Polson 27-4.
