Saturday’s speedy demolition of the west annex on the Flathead County Courthouse campus resulted in a change of plans in the schedule to demolish the east annex.

The east annex is pegged to be knocked down tonight, county Public Works Director Dave Prunty said.

Employees from the county road, parks and maintenance departments will begin the demolition effort around 5:30 p.m. The process is expected to be complete within two hours.

On Saturday morning, the west annex was demolished in about an hour. This week, county employees have hauled out the debris and are hauling in fill material.

The same process will occur at the east annex.

Prunty expects all of the fill material to be on the two sites no later than next Monday.

Parks department employees will clean up the sites, where grass will then be planted.

The two small parking lots on either side of the courthouse remain closed until the debris is removed and fill material hauled in.
