Arrests likely in families' brawl

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a brawl involving about 10 people on Frontage Road just outside Columbia Falls Monday morning.

Sheriff Chuck Curry said it was a “big feud between a couple of families” that occurred at about 11:30 a.m. One person was taken to the hospital by ambulance with nonlife-threatening injuries.

According to dispatcher correspondence, there was a person chasing another person with a crowbar at one point.

“It sounds like there were implements that were utilized as weapons,” said Curry, who anticipates there will be arrests.

There was a report Sunday of a vehicle egged on Parliament Drive.

A man reported the theft of a mountain bike that he had located at a pawn shop.

There was a report of someone sleeping in a vacant house on Berne Road.

A man reported that he left his vehicle to be worked on at a place on Springhill Road, but now the vehicle has been stripped of parts and is no longer in running condition.

A person reported finding a cash register in the middle of a pasture off Big Horn Drive, not far from a casino in the area.

A woman calling from a Shady Lane address reported that her ex-boyfriend hit her with a shampoo bottle and some shoes.

There was a report of locks cut at a storage unit on U.S. 2 West, with a router and router table stolen. It was the fourth time the storage unit had been broken into recently.

A Somers Stage Road resident reported someone entered his home and went through a desk, but apparently nothing was missing.

There was a report of a very drunk woman with purple hair threatening people outside a bar in the Ninth Street West area near Columbia Falls. A ride was arranged for the woman to go home.

There was a report of four-wheelers tearing up a property off East Evergreen Drive.

A man calling from U.S. 2 near West Glacier reported that he lost a laptop bag in Glacier National Park; he claimed there was $15,000 and a handgun in the bag. He said he would try to find it himself.

Kalispell Police got a report from a First Avenue East North address Sunday regarding a neighbor who came over and was told to leave. Soon after, the reporting party heard a loud noise and discovered that a window had been broken by a large rock.

Someone reported the theft of a backpack with CDs out of a vehicle Monday.

Columbia Falls Police got a report Sunday from a Rapids Avenue address regarding an unwanted man who was causing a disturbance.

Whitefish Police got a report of a burglary on Mountainside Drive.

Alarms

The Kalispell Fire Department and other responders were dispatched to a report of an explosion off Airport Road at about 3:30 p.m. Monday. It turned out that a high-pressure line blew out on ammonia fertilizer equipment attached to a farm tractor. The driver had to do high-speed laps around the field to keep ahead of the ammonia until the gas had dissipated. All responders were canceled.
