Man at campground brandishes gun

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received third-hand information about a man who showed up at Trout Lake Campground acting strangely, waving a gun around and saying he wasn’t afraid to use it, then hiding in the bushes. The third-hand information was provided by the U.S. Forest Service.

A copper thief made a large haul over the weekend, stealing 500 pounds of copper wire from a business on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell.

An East Blanchard Lake Road resident in Whitefish reported receiving a message on his or her answering machine that was a death threat.

A 19-year-old man believed to be under the influence of the synthetic marijuana compound marketed as “Spice” threatened his family on U.S. 93 South in Whitefish.

A Valley View Drive resident reported a 14-year-old boy tried to burn down his house with a can of gas on Friday.

The president of a homeowners association reported a homeowner removed boulders at the entrance to the community on Paradise Hills Drive because the person didn’t like them being there.

A woman dropped off a fraudulent prescription at a pharmacy on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell, but did not return to pick it up.

A Willow Drive woman reported her dog was killed by her neighbor’s dog.

Someone shot out the windows of several vehicles on a Valley View Drive property while the resident was out of town.

Several people were reported shooting off fireworks at McGregor Lake.

A shoplifter stole a bottle of wine from a business on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls.

Someone stole several plants from a yard on Conrad Drive.


Kalispell Police Department officers arrested a man for disorderly conduct and assault by reasonable apprehension of harm on South Meridian Road after he was reported entering several businesses, talking crazy and asking for money. The man, believed to be on drugs, also made comments about methamphetamine.

A couple were reported having sex in a vehicle in a supermarket parking lot off First Avenue East North.

Officers had to handle a trespasser at an East Idaho Street motel that they had already escorted from the property two days earlier.

A woman left a business on U.S. 93 North without paying for her pedicure.

A Second Avenue East resident reported someone put lawn ornaments into her wheels, possibly breaking something and making the vehicle unable to function.

Someone broke into and ransacked a car on Empire Loop.

Someone painted a gym on Fourth Avenue West.

Several vehicles in the neighborhood surrounding Pheasant Run were egged.

Several containers on U.S. 93 South were spray-painted.


A Columbia Falls Police Department officer dealt with a homeless man sleeping in the bushes in Depot Park. The man ran from him initially, but the officer caught up with him on First Avenue East North and took him back to the park. The man had already been warned and was given his second and final warning, and had to pick up his belongings from three different sites.


Whitefish Police Department officers investigated a report of criminal mischief on Kalispell Avenue.


Polson Police Department officers arrested a person for illegal possession of alcohol or another intoxicant at a clubhouse.

A burglary was reported at an apartment on 10th Avenue East.

An investigation of a possible liquor law violation turned up an incident of unlawful transactions with children.

An investigation of a report of suspicious activity turned up an intoxicated pedestrian on U.S. 93.


Montana Highway Patrol troopers arrested a person for obstructing a peace officer.

Troopers arrested a person for driving under the influence outside a bar.


Ronan Police Department officers arrested a motorist for driving under the influence after the driver refused alcohol testing during a traffic stop on U.S. 93.

An assault was investigated on Adams Street South East.


The Lake County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of child abuse on Montana 35.

Criminal mischief was investigated on Mission Meadow Drive.

An incident of partner or family member assault was reported on U.S. 93.

Disorderly conduct was reported on U.S. 93.
