Local Bomber, Hobby Stock, Hornet and Super Stock will be running along-side Super Late Model drivers from the U.S. and Canada this weekend. All will be challenging for their share of more than $64,000 in gold, cash and prizes.

A major emphasis on local divisions this past winter made this event possible. The ownership and management wanted to give back to the locals that have kept racing in the Flathead Valley for more than 22 years.

The first annual event will kick off on Friday, with time trials at 7 p.m. and racing firing up at 8 p.m. Friday night will feature the Bombers, Hobby Stocks, Hornets and Super Stocks all running trophy dashes, heats and main events. The Super Late Models will have a chance to practice during Friday night’s intermission. The Hornets will run a 25-lap main event and for the first time will be paid for their main event. The Bombers and Hobby Stocks will compete in their own respective 50-lap mains with added prize money. The Super Stocks will round out the evening with a 75-lap main event, the winner of this event will go home with $500.

Saturday will feature the Super Late Model in a grueling 212-lap main event. Drivers will compete for their share of over $54,000 in prize money. The winner will take home a special commemorative gold bar for the event and cold hard cash. Spectators will also have a chance to ‘G.E.T. Rich’ and win a commemorative gold coin at the event. Currently 27 drivers have confirmed their entries for the event. Time trials start at 6 p.m. and the top 12 Super Late Model drivers will be locked into the event. These drivers will compete in a positioning heat race for the event. Drivers not locking into the Montana Gold 212 will compete in a 40-lap last chance qualifier event that will position the remaining 14 positions.

Pre-registration for this inaugural event is still open. Drivers wanting to enter are encouraged to log onto montanaracewaypark.com or call 257-7223. A special two-day ticket package is available for spectators. Kids ages 12-and-under will be admitted free of charge on Friday night only. All seats for Saturday are all ages/all seats one price.

Spectators and drivers will also want to get to the track early Saturday to meet Bob Bolles, senior technical editor of Circle Track Racing Magazine, who will be at the track to talk with spectators and racers about racing in Montana.
