Mission Valley keeps hopes alive with win at Regionals

BURLEY, Idaho — The Mission Valley Mariners bounced back from a tough loss to blast by Wheatland, Wyo., 11-5 on Sunday at the Class A Northwest Regional American Legion baseball tournament.

Mission Valley benefited from nine Wheatland errors, including four in a five-run sixth inning that saw the Mariners stretch their lead to 9-2. Jacob Young led the Mariners at the plate, hitting 3 for 5 and scoring two runs.

Dalton Molzhon earned the win in a complete game, six-hit performance, striking out three batters and walking four.

The Mariners will play host team Burley, Idaho at 6 p.m. today. The Green Sox beat Rocky Mountain (Boise) 17-14 on Sunday to remain unbeaten in the tournament. If the Mariners win they would play the winner of the loser-out game between Rocky Mountain and Glasgow for a spot in the championship game.
