Glacier golfers top Missoula leaderboard
Glacier High School golfers dominated the leaderboard at the first day of the Missoula Invitational at Larchmont Golf Course Wednesday.
Glacier’s Ryan Porch and Logan Iverson are tied for first place after each shot 69 in the first round, while teammate Cody Sherrill is just two strokes behind in third place.
As a team, Glacier’s first-day score of 285 puts it 26 strokes ahead of second-place Great Falls CMR.
Max Applegate and Ryan Keenan each shot 75 to lead Flathead, which is in third place with a team score of 315.
Art Doorn shot a 75 to lead Whitefish, which sits in sixth with a score of 335.
Glacier also leads on the girls side after Teigan Avery shot an 81 to tie Missoula Hellgate’s Katie Wills atop the leaderboard. Glacier’s Shea Stevens, Kaydee Aurich and Hannah Davis shot 83, 87, and 88 respectively to give Glacier a score of 339, 31 strokes ahead of second-place Great Falls High.
Flathead, which ranks fourth with a score of 401, had two golfers crack the top 10 after the first round as Morgan Knutson and Geneva Zoltek each shot 96 to tie for ninth place.
Katie Fyall led Whitefish with an 87. The Bulldogs are one spot behind Flathead in the team standings with a score of 413.
