Glacier golfers off to fast start at 2-day invitational
EUREKA — The Glacier boys are looking for their third-straight wire-to-wire tournament title while the Glacier girls are looking to make it two in a row.
The Wolfpack boys, once again led by Ryan Porch and Logan Iverson, are first-day leaders at the Glacier Invitational after Monday’s session at Indian Springs Ranch Golf Course.
Porch shot a 71 and Iverson followed with a 73 to help Glacier roll up a 304 team total. The Wolfpack lead Missoula Hellgate by 15 shots.
Glacier opened the season last week by winning invitational titles in Great Falls and Missoula.
Flathead’s Ryan Keenan shot a 76 to pace the Braves. He’s currently in third place.
Teigan Avery turned in a 76 as the Wolfpack girls posted the four best scores. Shea Stevens was next with an 81. Hannah Davis shot 84 and Kaydee Aurich 85.
Flathead’s Morgan Knutson had the eighth best round with her 94.
The Glacier girls with a 326 team score have a 47-shot lead on second-place Polson.
Tournament action winds up today starting at 9 a.m. at Big Mountain Golf Club.
