Season concert tickets still available

| August 29, 2012 6:30 PM

Tickets are still available for the Flathead Valley Concerts Association’s 2012-13 season.

Season ticket prices for adults are $60. Seniors 62 and older pay $50, and students pay $30. Families pay $140. This season’s concerts include:

Sept. 27 — The Legacy of Floyd Cramer

Cramer’s distinctive sound is still alive and powerful today through the music of his grandson, Jason Coleman, who has been playing the piano since he could reach the keys. The concert highlights the songs that featured Cramer on the original recordings or were his own self-penned hits, such as "Last Date."

Oct. 23 — Terry Barber

With an extraordinarily broad vocal range and natural fluency in a wide array of musical styles, American countertenor Barber is a performer in a class by himself. He has performed opera, classical, gospel, folk and jazz in a dozen languages in more than 100 concerts around the globe.

Feb. 28 — Prima Trio

Formed in 2004 while its members were studying at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, these three musicians play four instruments. Gulia Gurevich switches between violin and viola. Boris Allekhverdyan plays clarinet, and Anastasia Dedik is concert pianist.

Prima Trio’s repertoire ranges from beloved chamber music standards to such exotic gems as Aram Khatchaturian’s soulful “Trio for Violin, Clarinet and Piano” and S Glick’s festive “The Klezmer’s Wedding.” “Serenade” by composer Peter Schickele is the grand finale of every concert.

April 25 — RedHead Express

From the wilds of Alaska, RedHead Express welcomes listeners to join their family for a night of entertainment and high-energy music. From hits of the ’50s and ’60s to country, originals, Irish, traditional, bluegrass and old-time music, RedHead Express delights with tight harmonies and hard-driving instrumentals in their unique acoustic sound.

Having performed across the country the past three years, RedHead Express has become a sought-after and highly entertaining show.

A bonus concert will be offered Nov. 11 for $10 per person; veterans will be admitted for free. That show will feature local group BrassWerks.

Formed in 1975 by Don Lawrence, BrassWerks is a unique and distinctive local brass ensemble consisting of two trumpets, flugelhorn, trombone, euphomium and tuba, as well as drums and a female vocalist.

The band’s repertoire contains works by more than 70 composers. Audiences will hear light classics, big band, ragtime, marches, jazz, hymns, show tunes and more.

Current members are Dave Barr, Marty Weimer, B.J. Lupton, Dana Scranton, Jim Lehner, Allen Slater, Matt King and Dianne Guenther.

All concerts will be presented at the Flathead High School auditorium.
