With less than a month until many Flathead County committee terms expire, the commissioners on Monday approved a string of appointments and reappointments.

On the Flathead County Planning Board, which has five terms expiring, the commissioners reappointed Jeff Larsen, Marie Hickey-AuClaire and Gene Shellerud and appointed Kalispell attorney Noah Bodman to the seat held by Charles Lapp. Lapp did not seek reappointment.

A fifth vacancy on the county Planning Board will be filled by the Flathead Conservation District. Frank DeCourt has held that seat but has resigned from the board.

Flathead County Board of Adjustment members C. Mark Hash and Calvin Dyck were reappointed to their board positions. Charles Lapp and Jeff Goudreau also were vying for the two vacancies on the Board of Adjustment.

On the Whitefish City-County Planning Board, Diane Smith and Ole Netteberg were reappointed. The Conservation District will make one forthcoming appointment to that board.

Sharon Morrison was appointed to a vacancy on the Whitefish Lakeshore Protection Committee. Longtime committee member Jim Stack was not reappointed. Koel Abell also sought a position on that board but was not appointed.

A second appointment to the lakeshore committee must be a Blanchard Lake property owner. Jeff Jensen applied, but his letter arrived after the filing deadline, so the county will readvertise the Blanchard Lake vacancy.

Edwin Speelman and Mark Boardman were reappointed to the Ashley Lake Land Use Advisory Committee. Charles Jaquette retained his seat on the Egan Slough Planning and Zoning Commission, while Randy Kenyon retained his seat on the North Fork Land Use Advisory Committee.

Robert Carlin was reappointed to the LaBrant Lindsey Lane Land Use Advisory Committee. David Weyrauch was reappointed to the West Valley Land Use Advisory Committee.

Several vacancies on county committees and boards remain, including two spots on the Columbia Falls City-County Planning Board and various land-use committees. More information on those vacancies is available online at http://flathead.mt.gov.
