GREAT FALLS — Flathead turned in a strong finish, but it wasn’t enough to catch Great Falls High on Saturday.

The Braves outscored the Bison 21-9 in the final frame, but fell well short in losing 62-50 in a Class AA nonconference boys basketball contest.

Shea Schroder accounted for the bulk of Flathead’s scoring with 20 points. He was 7 of 10 from the field and added four free throws.

He was the lone Brave to reach double figures in the season opener.

Garth West and Chandler Escalante both scored eight.

Lukas Vining and Bryce Clark scored 15 and 12 points, respectively for Great Falls.

Flathead trailed 25-20 at the half, but fell behind 53-29 after three quarters.
