Glacier Nationals blank Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Glacier Nationals goaltender Taylor Hulslander stopped 27 shots in his first start of the season as the Nationals shutout the last-place Vancouver Vipers 4-0 Friday at Mountain View Rink.

Vancouver goaltender Nelson Deems stood tall in the face of a Glacier onslaught the first two periods before Glacier beat him three times in the third.

The Nationals totaled 62 shots on goal.

Jackson Schroeder netted what turned out to be the game-winner 9 minutes and 4 seconds into the first period.

Tucker Spooner potted a power-play goal 4:46 into the third before James Johnstone scored less than two minutes later to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead.

Spooner found the back of the net again with 3:03 remaining to conclude the scoring.

Glacier (11-4-1 NORPAC, 12-10-1 overall) remains tied with Eugene for second place in the NORPAC with 23 points.

Vancouver (2-16 NORPAC) hosts Glacier again today at 8:35 p.m.
