Crash victim identified
A man killed last week after his pickup slid off U.S. 12 near Avon and rolled has been identified by the Powell County coroner as 41-year-old Daniel Welch of Kalispell.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Welch lost control of his pickup truck at 4:35 a.m. Dec. 2 while driving over ice. The truck skidded off the road and rolled several times before coming to rest against an embankment.
Welch was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the pickup. He died at the scene.
