Zachary Bernheim of Kalispell holds his newborn son, Maximus Alexander Bernheim, on Wednesday afternoon at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Maximus was born at 12:12 p.m., completing a rare numerical series on Dec. 12, 2012. Bernheim said his wife, Chrissy, picked the date for the special delivery. Due to a previous Caesarean section, they were told this baby also would have to be delivered by that method. Their physician, Dr. Thomas De Hoop, told them they could pick any date between Dec. 9 and 20. Chrissy chose 12-12 and the doctor said he would take the baby at 12:12 p.m. “Some people were even more excited about this baby than the New Year’s baby because this is a once-a-century event,” Bernheim said. Bernheim said the birth certificate only records the hour and minute of the birth, but he remembers seeing the seconds and seeing the row of six 12s — 12:12:12 p.m. on the 12th day of the 12th month of 2012.
